Inside Shandong Shankuang’s conveyor roller workshop, a busy and dynamic production scene is in full swing. Various types of rollers, including standard rollers, impact rollers and friction rollers, are being manufactured simultaneously. Workers perform their duties with full concentration, and every procedure is connected orderly through careful operation, fully demonstrating the rigorous style of precision manufacturing.
The production of standard rollers starts with raw material conditioning. Workers inspect each pipe blank one by one to eliminate those with surface rust, excessive impurities or insufficient flatness. Qualified blanks are then sent to a leveling machine, where internal stress is relieved through mechanical pressing and manual auxiliary calibration, ensuring straight axis and uniform roundness of the pipe body. Afterwards, special grinding tools are used to polish the inner and outer walls section by section, removing oxide layers, burrs and tiny protrusions to achieve a smooth and fine surface, laying a solid foundation for subsequent assembly.
When assembling shaft heads and bearings, workers thoroughly wipe the surfaces of parts with dust-free cloths to remove oil and dust, then apply special lubricating grease evenly. Bearings are precisely locked into the grooves of shaft heads and pressed until fully fitted. Finally, the assembled shaft head units are steadily installed into both ends of the pipe body, equipped with a multi-layer sealing structure. Seals are carefully compacted to effectively block dust and moisture.
The production of impact rollers focuses on cushion layer treatment. After pipe pre-treatment, workers roughen the pipe surface by grinding to improve adhesion. Customized impact rubber sheets are cut to size and their rough surfaces are polished, then coated with high-performance adhesive evenly. During bonding, the rubber sheets are pressed point by point to expel air and avoid hollowing, and firmly fixed with special tooling to ensure tight adhesion between the cushion layer and the pipe body. Once the adhesive is fully cured, the edges of the rubber layer are finely trimmed to remove excess material and polished to a smooth, rounded finish, ensuring good contact with the conveyor belt during operation.
The processing of friction rollers emphasizes the precision of friction surfaces. After shaft machining, workers perform special treatment on the roller pipe surface through sandblasting to increase roughness. Friction liners are then bonded one by one at preset positions, with precise and seamless alignment at joints. A hot-pressing process is adopted to strengthen bonding after fitting. Upon cooling, the friction surfaces are polished with fine sandpaper to ensure flatness and uniform friction coefficient. The assembly procedure follows that of standard rollers, with extra emphasis on verifying the coaxiality of shaft heads and friction liners to prevent eccentric wear during operation.
Upon completion of assembly, all types of rollers enter a unified surface treatment stage. Workers remove rust and oil from the rollers through a combination of spraying and manual wiping to eliminate residual impurities completely. The rollers are then hung on a spraying line and coated with wear-resistant and anti-corrosion paint evenly, ensuring full coverage and consistent thickness. After curing, workers inspect the appearance one by one and polish away coating particles and defects. Rotation tests and random sealing inspections are carried out accordingly: standard rollers are checked for smooth rotation, impact rollers for cushion elasticity, and friction rollers for friction surface flatness. Technicians conduct patrol inspections and sampling rechecks to ensure every product meets quality standards.
In the workshop, the hum of machinery and the sound of tools blend together. Workers focus on their procedures, pursuing precision in every detail from raw material handling to finished product inspection. The busy scene of simultaneous production of multi-type rollers not only shows the vitality of the workshop, but also reflects Shandong Shankuang’s relentless pursuit of product quality, providing highly adaptable and reliable core components for various conveying equipment.
